A Coulometric-Titration Coulometer
نویسنده
چکیده
A highly precise coulometer is described which permits time integration of currents totaling 100 coulombs or more with a precision of about 1 part in 100,000. The current to be integrated oxidizes hydroquinone in an electrolysis cell, producing quinone and acid. The quinone is t hen reduced by constant-current coulometric titration, the end point being indicated by hydrogen-ion concentration measurements.

Determination of trace water in gas samples by an improved Karl Fischer coulometer.
The determination of trace water in gas samples, such as isobutene, chloromethane (polymeric staple gases) and SF6 by a conventional Karl Fischer coulometer is very difficult, because of the adsorption of trace water on the surface of sample pipe, the gasification of the liquefied samples, and the migration of moisture into the measuring cell from the surroundings. To solve these problems, we i...
متن کاملCoulometric Determination of Protein Nitrogen. Application to Direct Titration of Kjeldahl Digests.
A coulometric method is described for the determination of ammonia resulting from micro-Kjeldahl digestion of protein samples. The method has been applied to the direct titration of the ammonia in the digests. Routine titration of the ammonia resulting from lOsl. serum samples is described; the method has been applied to 1 -JLI. samples. Results are compared with standard macroand micro-Kjeldah...
متن کاملEvaluation of the stability of iron(II) solutions by precise coulometric titration with electrogenerated cerium(IV).
An iron(II) solution is often used as a reducing agent in titrimetry and standardized with cerium(IV) or potassium dichromate. Such an iron(II) standard solution is needed for not only titrimetric analyses, but also instrumental ones. Iron(II) is unstable even in a highly acidic solution, mainly due to air-oxidation; therefore, its standardization is required before use. In the present study...
متن کاملCoulometric titration of acids in non-aqueous solvents.
Coulometric titrations of mineral acids, sulphonic acids, carboxylic acids, enols, imides and phenols have been carried out in t-butanol or in acetone with electrically generated tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. Either a potentiometric titration or a visual indicator end-point may be used. The amount of acid titrated ranges from 10 to 60 muequiv, and the precision and accuracy of the method are ex...
